Clear communication tools will help them engage more effectively with healthcare providers. This streamlined approach empowers them to manage each step of the process confidently. As a result, doctors and nurses will also be able to track their patients more accurately and consistently.
Living with profound hearing loss, she faces daily challenges in public communication, often feeling isolated, frustrated and emotionally drained. Despite recognizing her hearing issues for over five years, navigating conversations remains difficult and disheartening. Relying on others, even family, can feel limiting and affect her independence. These struggles impact her confidence and ability to achieve personal goals without constant assistance.
In this category Design Thinking framework to address communication and navigation challenges faced by patients with profound hearing loss. By centering on Abby, a user who struggles with public interaction and healthcare independence due to her condition, the team follows a structured process involving empathic interviews, journey mapping and ideation. The goal is to reduce patient anxiety, improve communication and support caregivers and medical staff with better patient tracking and documentation, all while maintaining the user’s autonomy and dignity.
The concept centers on creating a patient-centered healthcare experience for individuals with profound hearing loss. Recognizing her struggles with communication, appointment tracking and independent navigation in medical environments, the design thinking approach aims to restore control, dignity and ease through a system tailored to her needs. The solution seeks to reduce frustration and anxiety while improving the clarity and consistency of her healthcare interactions.
